Well…..how many artists have studied nuclear physics?  Art, music and literature are only important to people who appreciate beauty.  Physicists can enjoy art, music and literature and artists can study math and science.  A person does not have to limit himself to one or the other.  It is just more difficult for the artist to study math and science and more difficult for the scientist to understand art, music and literature.  People from other countries can do both, so can Americans.
